Adventure Cycle Festival

Brathay Hall Clappersgate, Ambleside

The event was set up in association with Brathay Trust with the primary aim of inspiring more people to use their bike as an adventure vehicle. Attendees will be able to take part in a number of rides and challenges, see and demo both bikes and equipment from a selection of key brands, be inspired by talks and gain additional expertise through workshops. The festival will revolve around an event village with trade stands from where other activities will take place. The aim is for this to include a gravel / cross ‘challenge', guided overnight bikepacking trips in the Lakes, a 'loaded' hill climb, self-guided rides, workshops & presentations. In the evening the event village will play host to a bar and band.

The Gnarmac Attack – A Gravel Themed Reliability Ride in the Peak District.

Holmesfield Holmesfield Village Hall, Vicarage Close, Holmesfield

THE GNARMAC ATTACK - WHAT'S THAT THEN ? THE GNARMAC ATTACK IS AN UNSUPPORTED, UNMARSHALLED ADVENTURE ON THE QUIET ROADS, BYWAYS AND BRIDLEWAYS OF THE GLORIOUS PEAK DISTRICT NATIONAL PARK. The event is based on the reliability ride format, where the aims is to successfully complete an un-signed pre-determined route within nine hours. The event is the similar in concept to our previous events, including the Hardcore100. However this time we will be using some different trails to present you with a fresh challenge. Our idea is to get riders to think for themselves and not only test their riding skills but their ability to navigate. The 100 km route is around 30% off road on bridleways and byways. We'd recommend you use either a gravel, cyclocross or mountain bike - using a skinny tyred racing bike would probably result […]

The Distance CC – The South Lakes & Westmorland

Pavilion, Recreation Ground, Kendal Rd, Staveley, Cumbria, LA8 9LP. Pavilion, Recreation Ground, Kendal Rd, Staveley, Cumbria

What is The Distance? We are branding this event ‘Self Supported with benefits’ as it really does not conform to any current event format. The event focuses on the growing trend in rackless touring, but with a unique twist. The event is not a race but more a sociable challenge. From a single start point each rider will visit a series of checkpoints throughout the day. How they get between the checkpoints will be dependent on their rate of progress and the style of riding they choose. From ‘adventure roads’ to mountain bike trails, there are up to 3 route options at every checkpoint and your arrival time will determine which route options are open to you. Simply the faster you are the further you ultimately ride… or as we like to view it, the more sociable you are the […]

Cotsduro 2019

Stroud Brewery London Rd, Brimscombe, Stroud

CotsDURO is a 100km self-supported no frills road-gravel ride held on the last Saturday of June each year. It is a gentle gateway into the national XDURO trials. The route showcases the wonderful variety of singletrack and doubletrack, highways and byways of the Cotswolds across its rolling countryside and the saw-tooth profile of the Cotswold Edge. #CotsDURO18 will run on Saturday 29 June 2019: • Start: 9am at Stroud Brewery • End: late afternoon for drinks/food back at Stroud Brewery There is no parking at the brewery itself so please park elsewhere or better still take the train/ride. What bike shall I ride? It suits non-UCI compliant >33mm tyres on a gravel/cx bike. Rough bits will be too rough for road bikes. MTBs would be fine but probably a tad overkill. The ride will be run in XDURO format - 5 timed segments comprised of gravel and road. […]

The Ronde Van Vegas – A tour of Chesterfield by bicycle.

Holmesfield Holmesfield Village Hall, Vicarage Close, Holmesfield

The Ronde van Vegas is an unsupported, unmarshalled adventure on the quiet roads, byways and bridleways that surround Velotastic's home town of Chesterfield. With just under 100 km of riding, the event is based on the reliability ride format, where not speed, but the ability to successfully complete an un-signed pre-determined route within the 9 hour time limit is the aim. The event is the similar in concept to our previous events. However this time we're showcasing some of our favourite local trails that are often overlooked in favour of the Peak District. As the event's name suggests, we're big fans of Belgium and have included a few killer climbs in the route that remind us of the Flandrian bergs. Our idea is to get riders to think for themselves and not only test their riding skills but their ability […]
